Thanks man that's very helpful.It's working well for other games like rocket league ,Dark souls series etc. The third party controller support is nice and allows you to get some of the functionality which is nice for things that normally wouldn't work, like my above N64 controller example but the usefulness of using Steam input with an XBOX controller in games that already have Xinput support is dubious IMHO. It gets even better when you have the trackpads and such, especially for FPS and mouse-driven games. Though, since it can't really cause any major issues and to the game is more or less unchanged unless you remap something, turning it on for all games in the general BPM settings should be a non-issue. You mention checking that box per game and it allows you to remap controls, if that allows per game opting in, you can just use that if you are concerned. IIRC, when you enable Steam input support for non-Steam controllers, like your XBOX controller, it will default to being on for all games but you can opt out on a per game basis if for some reason you fond some sort of incompatibility, which would be incredibly rare. This is not an issue seeing as Steam itself uses Xinput so the game won't be the wise in knowing if you are using a Steam Controller, an XBOX controller or an N64 controller with a USB adapter, which I have done and it is hilarious. Yes, this option does use Steam itself to handle all Xinput commands going to the game so the normal support itself is in this case circumvented.
